Western Digital WD60NDZW Data Recovery
Zero Alpha offers professional data recovery for WD60NDZW hard drives. This is a 6TB USB portable hard drive commonly found in Western Digital external enclosures. Users may encounter issues such as accidental drops, non-detection, or firmware corruption. We accept mail in jobs from any location.

Western Digital WD60NDZW Common Problems
- USB-only PCB with built-in hardware encryption preventing direct SATA access
- Damaged or loose USB-C/Micro-B connector
- Firmware module or translator corruption (won’t mount, slow response, or clicking)
- Bad sectors from SMR wear, sudden power loss, or unsafe ejects
- Drive not detected, shows as “uninitialized” or asks to format
- Logical issues: accidental deletion, quick format, corrupted file system
- Physical shock/drop causing head/media damage or motor stiction
- Overvoltage/power surge damaging the PCB (e.g., blown TVS/PMIC)

03SEP25: Zero Alpha got a mailed in hard drive. This hard drive would spin up, not detect in the computer and after a while start clicking. It is out of enclosure of WD My passport PN: WDBR9S0060BBK-KB. PCB# 2060-810035-001 REV P0. OAKMONT2 family. SEDv2 unlock works, it's still using 88i1054 MCU. Soldered SATA adapter. Spins up and comes ready with 0 capacity. Several modules have failed to read with DISK ECU UNSAFE ERROR, including module 190, which is unique and essential for data access. 190 can be partly read in "whole module" mode, but slows down due to errors. Can't use "areas reading" mode because PC3000 does not support this family: "For family 0x292 t2 meta data offset not defined". Module 25 is also unreadable, but can be taken from a donor for this family (this is not the case for older drives).

24NOV25: A suitable OAKMONT2 drive was located. Damaged SA modules were restored, donor mod 02 was modified to match patient drive label. Module 190 is still damaged, cannot be read by the drive. This family is currently unsupported by PC3000, there are no tools for working with the T2 translator. We are able to read parts of the module, but it would obviously be very high-risk to attempt writing the (incomplete) read back to the SA to resolve the DISK ECU UNSAFE ERRORs. This case is currently unsolvable.
